Cool products, flexible work
”I have been working for Nokia for 3 years. I work in an international platform team called Maemo as an Open Source Advocate. My job is to ensure that we make the most out of open source and open development, and that Nokia works well with the communities outside.
More and more features are powered by open source components, and instead of hiding, we are interested in sharing. Open source has changed the whole trend. Now it is possible to develop better products faster and get even more people involved and excited about them. I’m convinced that Nokia is doing something historical here. We are switching the usual paradigm of proprietary software to another platform. I’m excited to be a part of developing a very cool product that can make a wide range of consumers happy.
We don’t have solid office hours in Maemo. After setting your objectives you can have all the flexibility you need, as long as the required level of performance is achieved. For me this flexibility is really important. If you want to be a part of the Maemo community, you have to be determinate. Passion is the key.”
